Moon Dog wasn't preconceived. He started out as nothing more than trying to blend a dog (see source image link) face into that of a bald man from istockphoto.com. I removed the man's eyes, replacing them with a rooster's eye from istockphoto.com. The moon shape is the result of messing around with Photoshop's liquify tool. The background image is a shot I took of fireworks in downtown Seattle of this year.

i think this is my favorite so far, very cool. i missed the fireworks in town this year, had to work. i woulda called in sick and gone if i'd known i'd see a moon dog though...

moon dog has a really weird mouth! i like the idea of the mouth, but i'd prefer it to be less blurry. the whole composition is freaky and intersting as always

The mouth is intentionally distorted for it's oddness appeal and in keeping it similar to the source image used. However, if one doesn't view the source image I can understand why the mouth becomes an area for improvement.
